Due to the cancellation of a major, high-traffic commercial design trade show, the Stamats team mobilized with very little advance notice, to create a new interactive experience, providing virtual showrooms for their i+s’ audience.

One of the largest commercial design trade shows, Neo Con, cancelled its 2020 event due to Covid-19. To supplement the loss of in-person meetings, new people and products, and showroom displays, the Stamats team quickly mobilized to create an online showroom experience for their i+s brand.

Given a very short deadline to supplement the NeoCon event, Stamats used an agile approach to design and implement a new Drupal 8.9.0 site. During this same time, the team built a collections engine to gather all the necessary information from participating vendors. Knowing that visuals were a key component for the project, the team worked closely with each vendor to gather and optimize images.

Stamats designed the branding, name and logo for Inspire. Uncertain how many vendors would join the virtual experience so quickly, the team built a flexible framework that expanded to custom filters and a lazyload of items.

Partnering with Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Stamats had students design custom, hand-sketched renderings of each vendor’s showroom. Taking these hand-drawn showrooms and creating digital hotspots on each one was a key part of the interactive experience.

Within each virtual showroom, the team detailed the products on display, provided a custom podcast and a lead generation form. The digital team created custom enewsletters which were pushed daily and encouraged readers to take a tour through each featured space.

Launching one week before plan was no simple feat for a team that was already readjusting to Covid-19 and working remotely. But results have been impressive.

Thirty-six companies signed up for the event. In the first six months, the Inspire site has had over 8,000 visits, 380+ clicks, over 2,000 total podcast listens, almost 14,000 total social impressions, and more than 45 lead generation forms returned. The conversion rate rose steadily from 3.1% the first week to 4.82% currently.

Having no foresight regarding future onsite trade shows, the creativity and ingenuity of Stamats and their partners have shown clients the benefit of going off the traditional path, into previously untapped spaces with successful results.
