Cedar Rapids, IA, March 30, 2016—Becky Morehouse, Vice President for Client Services of Stamats, announced the recipient of a $500 scholarship at Stamats’ 2016 Adult Student Integrated Marketing Conference held in San Antonio, Texas on February 22-23.
The financial award went to Ms. Tommye Engelke. Engelke is a dean’s list student enrolled in the online program at the University of the Incarnate Word, a private Catholic university serving approximately 9,000 students in San Antonio, Texas. Engelke began her studies at UIW shortly after her husband accepted a teaching position at Texas A&M University in 2014. Earning straight A’s in her first semester, Tommye has been excelling academically ever since and is delighted to be this year’s scholarship recipient. She’s hoping to complete her bachelor’s degree in human resources in the fall of 2016. Julie Weber, UIW’s director of online marketing, helped select Engelke for the scholarship after learning about the disciplined, goal-focused attitude she’s brought to her education.
Stamats’ annual Adult Students Integrated Marketing Conference is a chance for leaders of institutions of higher education to come together and learn about innovative marketing practices designed to reach, enroll, and retain adult students. Directed toward enrollment, admissions, and marketing professionals, conference topics include lead generation, brand awareness, social media best practices, retention strategies, and more.
The 2016 event was framed within a compelling theme: Every Student Has a Story. Exploring the deeply individual narratives that motivate adult students and fuel their sometimes unpredictable journeys, topics focused on helping college and university leadership understand the subtle patterns of adult student behavior and better leverage marketing resources to promote engagement and persistence.
By all measures, this year’s conference was a resounding success. “Stamats is delighted to make this scholarship an important part of each year’s event,” said Morehouse. “It’s our way of acknowledging the hard work of adult students across the country and shining a brighter light on their individual stories. Ms. Engelke exemplifies so many of the dedicated students who make our nation’s colleges and universities great.”
