Founded in 1913, Mount Mary University (formerly Mount Mary College) is a private liberal arts university located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The school was in dire need of brand repositioning work to better reflect the range of its academic offerings, the quality of its education, and its deep historical roots. The
refocused brand would need to speak to the adult, graduate, and undergraduate audiences the university serves and provide a centering point for all marketing and messaging efforts.
Mount Mary turned to Stamats for brand repositioning research, brand consultation, and creative and digital services. Our team outlined an approach that started with prospective students and stakeholder research, an environmental and competitor scan, and a brand engagement assessment. Findings were reviewed with Mount Mary senior administrators in order to give context to the objective data and uncover relevant insights that would add value to our marketing strategy and creative approach. Research results not only helped the university reframe its brand more authentically, it guided a drastically different messaging platform—one based on a more complete understanding of audience priorities and motivators. With the new brand in hand, Stamats helped Mount Mary design fresh recruitment materials and a more informed prospective student marketing plan. And at the same, our digital services team developed a new responsive institutional website to keep pace with evolving mobile media.
For Mount Mary University, the results of our work together have been immediate and pronounced. The university is enjoying near record enrollment, an inquiry and applicant base comprised of significantly more qualified individuals, and a new brand position in the urban Milwaukee market that’s more engaging, relevant, and future-focused.
