On February 13, we concluded another successful Stamats Adult Students Marketing Conference. For two days, higher education professionals from across the nation gathered to discuss issues critical to adult student marketing and recruitment, share information, and learn from leaders in the field—all with sunny (well, mostly sunny) San Diego as our backdrop. Adult StudentsTALK™ 2019 Study Results
Conducted in collaboration with TargetX, this year’s Stamats Adult StudentsTALK™ Study is a deep dive into what the most successful colleges and universities in the adult and graduate student recruitment game are up to. In this general session, we showcased how different institutions prioritize nontraditional undergraduate and graduate recruitment, explored the top challenges schools face in recruiting adult students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and shared which digital tactics are most effective in the engagement and recruitment process.

Seeing Is Understanding: Using Everyday Tools to Convey Data Visually
“My favorite!” and, “Please, more workshops with these types of practical skills,” were just a couple of the rave reviews we received about this comprehensive session. Led by Stamats’ own Grant DeRoo, session attendees learned how to use visual tools strategically to enhance understanding, discovered which types of charts and graphs are the easiest for people to process, and discussed the crucial role that color plays in visual communication.
Bulls-Eye: A Multi-layered Approach to Target Marketing
Hosted by Davia Lassiter of Kennesaw State University, this interactive workshop explored the prospective student journey step-by-step and examined how KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education successfully targets adult learners, develops and delivers effective messaging, and nurtures leads for maximum ROI. With accolades like “Another fabulous session; your tips are so relevant and applicable,” attendees couldn’t get enough.
New Again: How a Century-Old University Used Partnerships to Grow Enrollment
“So dynamic and fun!” and “High-energy presenters and useful information,” were only part of the positive feedback we received about this session. Led by Linda Purtill and Pamela Allen from University of Redlands, attendees discovered how this 111-year-old private university has grown adult enrollment by developing forward-thinking partnerships to reach millennials, dramatically simplifying the application and transfer processes, streamlining degree paths, and much more!
What were the other big hits of this year’s conference? The hotel and the cuisine, of course! Numerous attendees shared how impressed they were with the InterContinental San Diego (the new gem on San Diego Bay) and the amazing foodprovided at breakfast, lunch, session breaks, and evening networking events. Our personal gastronomic favorites included the full taco bar, dark chocolate cake pops, and the truly addictive bacon-wrapped goat cheese with dates hors d’oeuvres. Hungry yet?
