Tech school. Junior college. Cheap and easy. Those aren’t words any university wants to be associated with. But for the University of South Carolina Beaufort, this was the perception. Prospective students and parents were unaware of the University’s truly impressive academic offerings, its astounding value as the state’s most affordable state institution, or the impressive stories of success of its alums. USCB needed an identity that would break through all the misperceptions and set the story straight.
Stamats started with a visit to both campuses to meet with students, faculty, staff, and administration. The result: a new admissions campaign with the tagline—Powerful Futures. Discovered.—to reflect the truly amazing opportunities the University provides its students.
In conjunction with completing communication sequence mapping to better reach USCB’s target audiences, Stamats produced content and designs for numerous publications, as well as ads, banners, billboards, emails, and a newsletter template. The USCB/Stamats relationship continued with a new responsive website—following the same uniquely USCB creative campaign. The admission site was rolled out in 2013, with a responsive new institutional website in 2014.
While the publications and admissions website are in their initial recruitment cycle, the results have been astonishing. The USCB Office of Admissions reports that requests for information have tripled, attracting more students into the funnel at an earlier stage. Stamats’ engagement with the University has also helped secure incredible buy-in internally, which has in turn paved the way for collaboration in other campus-wide projects as well.
