Although our array of products and services has changed over time, Stamats has remained in the specialized communications business for more than 80 years (now that's a long time).

Our company traces its roots back to 1923 when we were founded by Frank French, an Englishman, and Herbert Stamats, a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. French and Stamats opened a promotion and advertising agency serving Midwest retail stores. Ten years later, they expanded the business with the launch of a national magazine. And, that's how it all began. The company's publishing business soon grew and so did the need for consistently high quality printing. So, Stamats integrated a printing operation in the 1940's.

In the late 1950's, the printing business expanded to include creative services. Among early clients were a few colleges which sought high-quality brochures and catalogs for their college admissions departments. With a turnkey approach, including photography, design, writing, and printing, Stamats began developing a reputation among colleges and universities as a specialist in this market niche.

As colleges expanded their own marketing efforts, Stamats matched the trend by adding additional services, including a marketing research and consulting group. Soon more client executives, consultants, writers and designers joined the team and our customized services continued to grow. In the 90's Stamats expanded, once again, to include interactive media capabilities.

And today, Stamats is the nation's leading provider of marketing solutions for higher education institutions, offering a full array of marketing services, including advertising, brand marketing, direct marketing, interactive media, planning and consulting, print media, and marketing research.
