QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

Hard Data
That's one way to consider quantitative research—perhaps because it's hard to argue with it. It's the kind of information you can take to your enrollment manager, board, or president, which quantifies the assumptions about your institution into data that is actionable. While all of Stamats' work is individually tailored to fit your needs, some of our typical projects in the area of quantitative research are:

  • Image and brand awareness studies
  • Competitive positioning studies
  • Non inquiry, non applicant, and non matriculant studies
  • Studies of alumni perception and participation
  • Donor giving habits and trends
  • Tuition pricing studies
  • Environmental and marketplace scans

The depth and breadth of our higher education research services is unmatched in the industry. The level of experience your Stamats research team has earned through working with hundreds of colleges and universities gives you an advantage that—pardon the pun—is hard to quantify. We can drill down deeply into one or two facets of your institution, or we can spread out a wide net to reach all of your potential audiences and query on many different issues.

The Way Stamats Works
Stamats' approach to every research project is customized to fit your unique needs and goals. In general, our research process involves these seven phases:

  1. Develop the Research Agenda: Following a visit to your campus, we draft a research agenda, which defines the scope of the research, in collaboration with you.

  2. Develop the Survey Instrument: For each audience to be surveyed, we build a survey instrument that includes open-ended and close-ended questions and allows you to segment the data, providing opportunities for cross-tabulation.

  3. Develop the Research Sampling Plan: Stamats ensures random and representative sample populations; in other words, each subject will have the same opportunity to participate in the study and the sample will be representative of the population.

  4. Procure the List: We cross-check your contact list for duplications, merge/purge, and reformatting to facilitate the data collection process.

  5. Execute the Research: Stamats executes the surveys using the method most effective in reaching your audience—Web, postal mail, and/or telephone.

  6. Analyze the Data: Once the surveys have been completed, we use sophisticated techniques to analyze the data: chi-square and related tests of association, analysis of variance and difference of means tests, multivariate techniques (regression, cluster, and factor analyses), and tree-based modeling.

  7. Presentation and Recommendations: Following the fieldwork, we meet with you to discuss the research findings and how they can be used to inform your marketing efforts.
