Guy’s background is as varied as his interests. A product of small-town Iowa, he’s gone from Eagle Scout, to construction worker at his family’s company, to lawyer, to Fortune 500 planner and financier, to higher-education marketer. Along the way, he’s also managed to address a couple of congressional subcommittees, a presidential commission, and a postal regulatory commission, all as a representative of the American Business Media trade association. They were, “quite an experience,” he says. Guy serves on several corporate and nonprofit boards, including the review board for the AMA Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education. He joined Stamats in 1983 and has held the presidential and CEO reins since 1995. Guy has a business and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Iowa. He is a proud recipient of the John Phillip Sousa Award, and an essay about beautifying the rural countryside won him a Rural Electric Cooperative Award. He is also a member of Beta Alpha Psi. When not engaged in business matters, Guy enjoys music, family, the outdoors, classic cars, and philosophy.
