2012 Stamats Graduate School Integrated Marketing Post Conference Workshop

Marketing Online Graduate Programs: New markets, new media, new message

The prevalence and growth of online learning is changing the landscape of graduate education. As institutions seek to serve more learners, extend their geographic reach, and diversify revenue, many are turning to online graduate programs. This means that marketing professionals and enrollment managers must look in new places, utilize different tactics, and modify our messages in order to speak to the needs and interests of this different type of graduate student.

This session will help participants understand some of the marketing strategies and techniques being used to recruit online learners. In-session and take home exercises will identify opportunities for improved marketing and recruitment efficiencies leading to lower recruitment costs and more online students. Through a series of individual and group exercises, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the typical characteristics of an online graduate student persona
  • Understand the various performance marketing strategies commonly used in online student recruitment
  • Appreciate the importance of an integrated marketing communications approach to inquiry response
  • Consider various work roles, technologies, and services which can be used to attract online learners
  • Identify strategies and techniques which may be applicable at their institution

If you are interested in learning about the successful strategies associated with marketing for online programs and about what other institutions are doing to attract and enroll online learners then this workshop is for you. The afternoon will be filled with new ideas to help you and your institution effectively attract online graduate students by utilizing contemporary marketing strategies and recruitment tools.
