Gary Bracken is vice president for enrollment at Saint Leo University. He has been in college
admissions since 1988. Since starting at Saint Leo, Gary has been responsible for more than doubling the size of the university campus at Saint Leo, FL. He is responsible for online graduate enrollment in several programs and developed the marketing, recruiting, and reenrollment functions for the
university’s Center for Online Learning, one of the largest not-for-profit online education programs in the country. He holds a B.S. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. from Columbia University.
CJ Cunniff is director of interactive media production at Stamats and has more than ten years of experience as a programmer in the interactive media field. His specialties include Internet systems, JavaScript/XML programming, JQUERY, MOOTOOLS, AJAX and Flash Development. His experience working in other markets including medical, small business and government sites, and customer relationship management Intranet sites help inform the work he completes with higher education clients. He has extensive experience in all facets of interactive marketing and technology and brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to his position at Stamats.
Dr. Terri Synders Crumley has a diverse higher education background which includes ten years in the college admission field, nine years in research coordination and administration, and eighteen years of teaching. She currently serves as Central College’s director of admission. In this role she has overseen the development and strategic use of technology to shape recruitment efforts. She has managed all aspects of recruitment including the creation of admission processes, search strategies, research efforts, communication plans, web and print marketing, and strategic planning.
Sabra Fiala is strategic marketing director at Stamats. Her range of experience from front-end marketing to interactive implementation to fulfillment provides a solid foundation of knowledge necessary to provide strategic counsel to clients. She also has extensive experience in developing lead generation programs, fulfillment processes, and response tracking. Sabra joined Stamats with nearly a decade of interactive direct marketing experience. Prior to arriving at Stamats, she worked in the advertising industry specializing in integrated direct marketing programs complemented by the Web and e-mail marketing. Sabra is an active member of various marketing organizations, including the Direct Marketing Association.
Dr. Brenda Harms, principal consultant at Stamats, is an experienced higher education administrator with a diverse marketing and admissions background. Her primary interest is the recruitment and retention of adult students and she leads the Stamats’ adult student marketing initiative. Dr. Harms is active in the higher education community, serving as the secretary/treasurer of the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators executive committee. Dr. Harms received a B.S. in allied health and an M.A. in educational psychology and counseling from the University of South Dakota. She received her Ph D. in human services with her dissertation focused specifically on adult student retention.
Jason Jones, president of JonesFoto, Inc., is a freelance commercial photographer specializing in college recruitment campaigns. His work has won dozens of ADDY awards in several markets, and he has contributed to more than twenty CASE Gold award-winning projects. He is a frequent speaker for regional and national CASE, CCAE, and UCDA conferences. He has an M.F.A. in photography, and brings to his college admissions work several years experience as a member of the art department at the University of South Florida. He has worked with hundreds of higher education clients as well as on entertainment industry projects.
Kari Kovar is a regional director of business development at Datamark, a leader of data-driven marketing for education. She received a B.A. in Public Relations from The University of North Dakota and is currently completing her MBA in Marketing at the University of Iowa. Kari has over ten years of professional experience in higher education marketing and has provided her strategic insight and consulting services for nearly one hundred colleges and universities across the country. She has directly addressed the marketing challenges faced by public and private colleges and universities, and has a unique understanding of the factors that are most influential to a school’s success in today’s competitive marketplace. Because of her extensive background, Kari has become a sought after speaker and has been featured at several national conferences.
Kati Davis is an interactive strategist at Stamats. She provides strategic direction and tactical knowledge for developing a strong online presence for Stamats clients. Kati brings a wealth of experiences in creating and testing online solutions from usability, site architecture, and more. A Google Adwords Certified Professional, Kati also has expertise in managing online sponsored advertising campaigns, and knows how to help you gain rankings naturally through search engine optimization. Kati holds a B.A. in journalism and mass communication from Drake University. Her experience and know-how in online media, paired a concentration in marketing, positions Kati to best understand how to take your Web site and other online efforts to the next level.
Kathy Kurz serves as vice president of Scannell and Kurz, Inc., an enrollment management consulting firm. Kathy’s special area of expertise is in developing strategic financial aid and retention programs, designed to enhance enrollment and net tuition revenue results. A former Associate Vice President at the University of Rochester and Director of Financial Aid at Earlham College, she pays special attention to ensuring that the solutions recommended are practical, detailed, and implementable. Kathy contributes regularly to University Business, authored a chapter entitled The Changing Role of Financial Aid and Enrollment Management in New Directions for Student Services, a Jossey-Bass publication, and speaks at national conferences and seminars such as NACUBO, Academic Impressions, and CIC.
Tim Panfil has more than 15 years of experience in higher education and is currently the
managing director for The School for Advanced Learning at Elmhurst College. The division provides
a central point of contact for all prospective, non-traditional learners for the college’s adult and
graduate programers, and the Elmhurst Life Skills Academy (ELSA). Panfil is also an adjunct instructor
in the adult accelerated managerial communication program as well as ELSA.
Fritz McDonald has more than 20 years experience as a professional writer, editor, and creative strategist. He earned his bachelor’s degree at UCLA, and an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa Writer’s Workshop. At Stamats, Fritz has created marketing communications, Web sites and digital strategy, and branding programs for colleges and universities across the U.S. He has an extensive background in Web 2.0 technologies and social media and has delivered webinars on the subject and written an industry-leading white paper on social networking strategies. He has been a keynote speaker for CASE, CCAE, and ACT, and presented at such well-known conferences as the Infinite Solutions HighEd Web conference. He has written articles on higher education marketing for Admissions Marketing Report, and on social media most recently for University Business. His creative work has garnished numerous awards, including a CASE Gold Regional, more than 40 ADDYs, and Admissions Marketing Report Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards. His Stamats clients have included Furman University, St. Olaf College, Villanova University, Harvard Medical School, and many others.
Becky Morehouse studied business as an undergrad at the University of Northern Iowa. She received her Master's in higher education administration at the University of Iowa and is completing her doctorate at the U of I as well. Before joining Stamats in 1991, Becky developed her research skills at a marketing research firm. It was there she learned the fine arts of focus group moderation, data analysis, and cross-country travel. Becky's long and varied experience as both an analyst and a consultant provides a rich Foundation and perspective that help Stamats' clients understand and appreciate the value of research.
Brian Niles started his career in admissions at a small, liberal arts college over twenty years go. He lead the graduate and adult enrollment and marketing at a national university. In this leadership position, he helped differentiate his employer in one of the most crowded higher education marketplaces in the country and pioneered the use of the Internet in recruitment marketing. His passion sparked the genesis of TargetX, the company he has served for over 12 years as its co-founder and CEO. Along the way he's earned his master's degree in education at the University of Pennsylvania and built TargetX into a multi-million dollar technology and consulting firm serving over 450 colleges and universities. Brian is now a voice of change in an industry at its tipping point, helping colleges who have the gumption to embrace more effective recruiting techniques as traditional methods whither away.
Chuck Reed, vice president for client services at Stamats, has worked in higher education for more than 20 years, including positions as coordinator of admissions for Peru State College and director of media relations for Nebraska Wesleyan University. He earned a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he worked as an admission ambassador for four years and learned firsthand about the roller coaster ride that is being a regional public university.At Stamats, Chuck was a writer and editor for nearly five years before becoming a client executive. His clients range from selective private colleges to regional publics and two-year institutions nationally, and his projects have won several CASE Gold and other awards. He frequently presents at CASE conferences and other professional workshops.
Dr. Robert A. Sevier is senior vice president for strategy at Stamats. He has more than 25 years of leadership experience in strategic thinking and planning, integrated and brand marketing, market research, and student recruiting, and his work has been featured at hundreds of professional conferences as well as in higher education's marketing publications, including Currents, Journal of College Admissions, Admissions Strategist, University Business, and College & University. He holds a Ph.D. in policy analysis and higher education administration from The Ohio State University, and he has authored seven books on integrated marketing, brand marketing, innovation, and strategic planning. He has taught and worked as an administrator at The Ohio State University, Denison University, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Oregon Health Sciences University.
Eric Sickler is a principal consultant at Stamats. He studied communication, marketing, and higher education at Central College, Creighton University, and Drake University. He spent nearly 15 years at Central College as director of alumni and college relations, director of admission, and finally vice president for admission and marketing. Eric served on two national commissions for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, as well as on the Board of Trustees for the Iowa Association of College Admission Counseling. He has chaired national CASE institutes and has presented workshops and conference sessions nationwide on integrated marketing, institutional brand development, marketing trends, and creativity in management. After leaving Central College, Eric was managing partner and chief operations officer at a Des Moines-based design firm called Think, and director of client services for The History Factory in Washington, D.C.
Chris Tremblay, is executive director of enrollment management and interim director of
financial aid at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He previously served as director of admissions at
UM-Dearborn and Gannon University. Tremblay earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from
Western Michigan University, has a post-master’s certificate in enrollment management from Capella
University, and is a doctoral student at UM-Dearborn studying educational leadership. He has published
articles in College & University, the Journal of College Admission, Journal of College Orientation and
Transition and the Journal of Intergroup Relations. He has presented at 30 association conferences
CYNDI WILSON PORTER, Dr. Porter is currently the assistant vice president, extended academic programs and the director of universe online at Incarnate Word. In addition to her administrative duties, she is an active facilitator, faculty member, mentor and online faculty trainer. Under her guidance, UIW became one of the first schools to take part in the US Army's eArmyU.com program for enlisted personnel.
