His Role: Editorial Director
His Experience: Cary has worked in higher education marketing for more than a decade, and has been an award-winning writer even longer. Prior to joining Stamats, Cary served as Director of Communications for Argosy Education Group in Chicago, where he wrote and oversaw the production of promotional materials for six separate colleges and universities-spanning 18 campuses-in the U.S. and Canada. After that, Cary served as Director of Marketing at the University of St. Francis, in Joliet, Illinois, where he was in charge of everything from the University's marketing plan to the creative development of recruiting publications. Cary earned a B.A. in journalism from the University of Iowa.
His Hardware: Cary's work has been recognized with a Best In Show ADDY, several Best In Category ADDYs, and more than a dozen silver and gold ADDYs. He has also earned an APEX Grand Award, a Webby, a CASE district award, and numerous awards from Admissions Marketing Report.
His Philosophy: As the guy who's in charge of ESG's editorial staff, Cary's philosophy is simple: "Surround yourself with good people and stay out of their way."
His Interests: When he's not playing tennis or golf, you'll probably find Cary doing work around the yard. While he describes mowing and low-level landscaping as "therapeutic," the lawn might disagree, though he is getting better. But what he enjoys most is spending time with his wife Trina and "matching wits with our daughters Maly (6) and Audrey (2). Sometimes I even win."
